Penny has close on twenty years’ clinical experience. She is registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board in the HPCA Act Clinical Psychologist Scope of Practice, and is a member of the New Zealand College of Clinical Psychologists. She graduated with distinction from the University of South Africa in 2000, and worked in a range of settings, including schools, university teaching and private practice. In New Zealand, she worked for six years at Counties Manukau DHB, and currently works in private practice and as a clinical advice manager at ACC.
Areas of interest
Penny works with adolescents and adults with difficulties including depression, anxiety, trauma, other forms of mental illness, chronic medical conditions, employment and life stage difficulties.
She also offers professional supervision to psychologists, counsellors and other health professionals.
Penny’s approach to therapy is guided by a collaborative and respectful approach. She draws on a range of theoretical models, including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based approaches, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), systemic family therapy, and psychodynamic and attachment theory.
