Penny Kokot Louw

Penny Kokot Louw is a registered clinical psychologist with over ten years' clinical experience working with people with a broad range of concerns. She is registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board and holds the HPCA Act Clinical Psychologist Scope of Practice.  She is a member of the New Zealand College of Clinical Psychologists.

After qualifying in 2000, Penny worked as a school psychologist, and later at the University of Pretoria where she taught postgraduate and undergraduate courses, and was involved in the training of counsellors and clinical psychologists and conducting research. She further ran a part-time private practice consulting with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families, and was affiliated to a large employee assistance programme. In 2005, she left academia to dedicate more time to her practice and her young family. In addition to therapy, her work included consulting to local schools and support groups, and offering courses and workshops on a variety of topics. She relocated to New Zealand in 2008.

As well as private practice, Penny works as a senior psychologist in an adult mental health service. Her work here includes clinical work with patients, team consultation, service development and supervision of other psychologists' work. She also consults to Ormiston Hospital where she supports patients through the bariatric surgery programme.

Penny has expertise in a number of therapeutic techniques, including cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) and systemic family therapy. She is also able to offer counselling and therapy sessions in Afrikaans.

 

Willem Louw

After first qualifying as a teacher and working as a lecturer at a teacher's training college, Willem Louw graduated with a professional degree in clinical psychology in 2000. He initially worked for the South African Defence Force, providing psychological services to soldiers and their families, before moving into academics. In this role he taught psychology at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and was involved with the training of counsellors and psychologists and the development of indigenous psychology approaches. During this time he also embarked upon study towards a PhD, contracted to an employment assistance programme treating a wide range of difficulties, and ran a part-time private practice, where he specialised in treating adults with depression and anxiety disorders.

After relocating to New Zealand in 2008, Willem worked as a senior psychologist in Corrections for two years before moving into adult mental health where he currently works specifically with Maori. He is also involved in liaising with primary mental health care organisations and the supervision of other psychologists. He recently completed his PhD thesis and is currently awaiting the results of his examinations.

At East Auckand Psychology, Willem consults with adults and adolescents with a wide range of difficulties. He has particular expertise in anxiety disorders and depression using CBT, family systems and solution-focused approaches. He is also able to offer therapy in Afrikaans. He is registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board and holds the HPCA Act Clinical Psychologist Scope of Practice.

 

Anneline (Annie) Mordaunt

Annie Mordaunt is a registered clinical psychologist with the New Zealand Psychologists Board and is also a full member of the New Zealand Psychological Society.

In addition to private practice, Annie works in a Child and Youth mental health service. This work includes clinical work with youth and families in conjunction with  providing consultation and collaboration to non-governmental and wider governmental agencies to provide holistic care for youth and their families.

Annie has a broad range of expertise in a number of therapeutic modalities, including cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), systemic family therapy, psychodynamic and existential therapy.

After graduating from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa in 2003, Annie worked in various psychiatric clinics and hospitals, including work at a forensic setting. She also worked in private practice, conducting individual, couples’ and family therapy. Annie was also affiliated to a large employee assistance programme providing therapy to people with work-related and personal difficulties. She further developed and conducted an Emotional Intelligence programme and conducted workshops for junior and senior management at a corporate institution in Johannesburg.

Annie immigrated to Auckland, New Zealand in February 2009, where she has worked in adult and youth community psychiatric clinics as well as in private practice settings.
